An early morning thunderstorm over Marsh Harbour gave a lightning strike to a Mooring’s charter catamaran setting it on fire. No one was injured but the $700,000 boat burned to the waterline.
Abaco saw its first scheduled jet arrive in Marsh Harbour on June 14. Vintage Props and Jets will service Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay on Saturdays through the summer. Presently, it serves Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
South Abaco Member of Parliament, Mr. Edison Key, reviewed three acres in Marsh Harbour allocated for a craft market and farmer’s market. The site is now being cleaned of brush and industrial debris.

Twenty-five students of the Every Child Counts School in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, competed in the Bahamian National Special Olympics in Nassau. They completed in swimming and track and field events and brought back many gold, silver, bronze and other awards. ECC is a school for developmentally disabled children.

A development on Snake Cay, Abaco, was described at a special meeting of the Central Abaco District Council. The plans call for a hotel, villas, residential areas and recreational facilities.

James Boyce, a student of the Hope Town Primary School on Abaco, was named the top sixth grade student in the Bahamas at a two-day event in Nassau. He was honoured by a decorated golf cart parade in Hope Town when he returned to his school.
